What are the Best Toothache Remedies
BACH FLOWER REMEDIES
• If you are fearful or apprehensive about dental treatment, take one dose of Rescue Remedy immediately before and after a visit to the dentist.
ACUPRESSURE
For the locations of acupressure points on the body, see ADMINISTERING AN ACUPRESSURE TREATMENT in Part Three.
• If you are suffering from pain as a result of a cavity, massage Large Intestine 4. This acupressure point relieves face and toothache and calms a stressed nervous system.
• Four Gates will help you relax if you are anxious or uncomfortable.
AROMATHERAPY
For specific instructions on how to use aroma therapy, see PREPARING AROMATHERAPY TREATMENTS in Part Three.
• Clove oil is a time honored remedy for toothaches. If you are suffering from pain as a result of tooth decay, place a drop of clove oil directly on the crown of the affected tooth and dab another drop on the gum around the tooth to anesthetize the area until you can see your dentist. Tea tree oil can also be rubbed or dabbed on with cotton for pain relief.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
• Discuss your dentist’s treatment plan thoroughly in advance, especially if you need more than one procedure performed. Many dentists routinely treat the worst cavity first, for example, but there is no reason that this has to be done, and it can be easier on your nerves if the procedure done first is the one that is least likely to be unpleasant.
